Regarding categories with an upward trend, Middle East applicants exhibited only half the number of European applicants. Nevertheless, it showed an opposite trend to the European nations’ figure, climbing to a high of 30,000 applicants by the end of the period. Notably, it surpassed the number of European nations in 2001. Similarly, the Far East had only 10,000 applicants but managed to show a progressive increase, reaching its peak (20,000) by the end of the period.
