The line graph compares different channels of book selling and their sales figuers in one European country since 2000 with a prediction for 2012.
It is noticeable that bookshops was the most essential resource of books in 2000, but their sales figures fell gradully until 2008, and predicted to rise since then. While the supermarkets gain gradually its importance. And the Internet, which had the lowest sales in 2000, became the books market leader in 2008, and then predicted to be decreased.
In the year 2000, bookshops were the main source of book selling, selling 170 million books, while internet had the lowest share of the book market, about 110 million. And supermarkets sold 130 million books.
Over a 8-year period, Internet rose dramatically to the peak of 150 million books sold, while supermarkets rose slowly to the sales figure of 140 million books. By contrast, bookshops saw a decrease by 30 million. However, in 2012, it is predicted that supermarkes share the biggest part of book market, about 160 million. While figure for bookshops turn to increase to approximately 155 million. And the figure for Internet decreased to about 135 million.
