The line graph illustrates the number of books read by males and females at Burnaby Public Library over a 4-year period ending in 2014.
Overall, both men and women showed an upward trend in the number of books read throughout the period. Although women read more books than men at the beginning of the period, their numbers fell to below the level of men by the end of the period.
As the graph shows, the number of books read by men started at approximately 20,000 in 2011, followed by a small increase to around 24,000 in 2012. The figure then rose rapidly to about 30,000 in 2013 and continued to increase steadily until the end of the period, reaching approximately 33,000 in 2014.
On the other hand, the number of books read by women was just under 60,000 at the beginning of the period and experienced a slight increase to around 68,000 in 2012. This figure continued to rise until it reached around 70,000 in 2013. Finally, it fell gradually until it reached approximately 68,000 by the end of the period
