The line chart provided illustrates the numbers of individuals participating in four distinct types of sports namely badminton, basketball, tennis and rugby from 1985 to 2005.
Overall, upon analyzing the data, it is evident that the number of people playing rugby took the lead in the first ten-year period, followed by that of tennis. Additionally, the figures for basketball and badminton remained stable, with the lowest position for the latter throughout the entire period.
In 1985, the number of tennis players started at 150, after which, it experienced a consistent rise to nearly 200 in 1995 before ending the period at the peak of over 200. In addition, although the figures for rugby took the dominant position from 1985 to 1995, they then plunged to approximately 50, which was equivalent to badminton.
Meanwhile, both badminton and basketball figures experienced minor fluctuations before levelling up at the end of the period. Notably, badminton remained by far the least popular sports, with its figure hovering over 50 throughout 20-year periods.
