The given line chart gives informations on how many travelers had visited the island of Caribbean from 2010 to 2017 along with their preferred choice of acommodation.
Overral, more people were interested in visiting the island throughout the given period despite having some fluctuation, the same trend was also recorded for the remaining two categories. While at first sight, staying on island was observed to be more favoured by visitors, cruise ships were choosen by more people from 2016.
Looking at total figures, it started at a humble of 1 millions visitors, followed by steady increasing trend to 1.5 millions in 2012. After that, a steep jump was presented between 2012 and 2015, surged to around 2.8 millions travellers. Despite leveling at the same number during the next year, it finally reached its peak in 2017, at 3.5 millions tourists.
Regarding the two acommodation types, the number of travellers staying on the island was approximately 800 thousands, slightly higher the figure for cruise ships, which started at around 300 thousands. The number of cruise ship travellers subsequently had some fluctuation for the following 3 years. In contrast, visitor showed a bias for choosing the island as the acommodation, represented by the dramatical increase from 2011 to 2013, from 0.8 millions to 1.5 millions. The trend for the two accomodation reversed after 2013, witnessing the sharp increasing trend in the figures of visitors choosing cruise ships as their acommodation, while the figure for those whose choice was the island remained at 1.5 millions for the rest of the given period. Notably, the number of people staying on cruise ship surpassed the other acommodation in 2016, ending the period at 2 millions visitors, almost quadrupled the figures showed in the begining of the period.
