The line graph illustrates the number of females and males who graduated from a University in Canada from 1992 to 2007. Overall, a general trend indicates an increase in both genders’ graduations, albeit the figure for females faced a sharper rise than that for males.
At the outset of the period (1992), almost 100,000 women graduated, while only about 70,000 men did in the same year. In 1995, both figures experienced a growth of 5,000. However, in the following year, the number of women underwent a sharp decrease of 5,000 until 1998. Moreover, the figure for men who graduated decreased slowly to 71,000 by 1998.
In 2000, approximately 104,000 women and 74,000 men graduated. Nevertheless, the number of graduations of males decreased to 72,000, whilst that of females grew to 106,000 in 2001. For the next 3 years, both figures climbed steadily until upward trends became stable between 2004 and 2005. From 2006 to the end of the examined period, the graduations of both genders went up rapidly to reach about 149,000 for women and 85,000 for men.
