Overall, it’s noticeable that there was almost no dramatical change during three decades, except rugby with a significant decrease and a slight rise in tennis.
In 1985, almost 240,000 people played rugby, which was substantial more players than out of three sports. This number then witnessed a sharp decline to 200,000 players in 1995, though reducing considerably by 150,000 in 2005. In contrast, time started much lower at 150,000 participants in 1985. Followed by, the number of people rose moderately to about 220,000 in the final year reached a popularity.
Basketball and badminton showed a similar trend over the period shown. Basketball used slightly more popular than badminton among participants with approximately 70,000 and 50,000 respectively. Interestingly, both of them had remained steadily at the same point by 2005 as 1985, that badminton converging with rugby at 50,000 players.
