The line graph indicates the data of the particaipants who took part in the Olympics since it first began. According to the data given, the year Olympics started, is represent in the year 1924 and participants growth chart is given till the year 2004.
Overall, the data here is given for the number of the male, female and total participants. We can infer from the graph that the data for males candidates is shown in blue colour. Similarly, data for females candidates is represented in red colour lines, and for total in green. On the horizontal line the year is indicated and on the vertical we can see the total number of people who participated. To begin with, earlier in the year 1924, the number of participants are less compared to the data given for the year 2004. That can be probably due to the fact that the Olympics in 1924 were totally new to the world but as the time passed by people became more and more aware of the games and understood how big it was. As indicated from the graph the participation of candidates increased year by year since the year it began.
However, if we have to make a comparison between the male and female participants then we can see that the number of males participants have always been higher than the number of female participants all the time. Starting from range of nearly 2500 males have increased to slightly more than 6000 but in contrast to this the number females were less. That is, almost in hundreds, that’s less than 500 to almost touching 4000. But as time passed, the growth amongst females was more as compared to that amongst male candidates.
Hence, If we have to conclude the comparison between the ratio of male and female candidates, then males were the highest. But there is good involvement of females as, that takes up the overall participation in Olympics higher.
