The line graph illustrates the whole milk and low-fat milk used per capita in United States from 1970 to 2015.
Overall, while the low-fat milk witnessed an upward trend, the reverse was true for the consumption of whole milk. In addition, the whole milk had the highest consumption in 1970.
The initial impression from the graph was the figure of two kinds of milk in 1970. In 1970, whole milk stood at approximately 25% while the use of low-fat milk accounted for only 6%. However, the former fell by only 14% in 1990 while the latter increased significantly to nearly 15% in the same time frame.
From 2000 to 2015, the consumption of whole milk continued to drop to only 5%, which was the lowest percentage of the total. Conversely, low-fat milk experienced a fluctuation throughout the period. It remained around 15% in 2010 before decreasing to around 13% in 2015.
