In 1970, 25 gallons of whole milk were drunk by people in America, while the amount of low-fat milk was lower, at more than 5 gallons. After that, the consumption of whole milk tended to decreased sharply and that of low-fat milk was opposite. In 1990, the amount of both types of milk were equal to each other, at nearly 15 gallons.
From 2000s, the amount of low-fat milk overcame that of whole milk despite the remain stable in 10 years, at roughly 15 gallons. Even though the consumptions of whole milk and low-fat milk witnessed a downward trend from 2010 to 2015, the former was 5 gallons, which was lower when being compared to approximately 15 gallons of the later.
