Overall,it is apparent that low fat milk consumption experienced an upward trend,whereas the consumption of the whole milk decreased staidly over the given period . Notably whole milk recorded both the highest and the lowest consumption figures during this time.
In 1970, whole milk consumption stood at 25 gallons per person ,making it the most popular type of milk in the USA however,it decreased significantly and fell to just 5 gallons by 2015.
By contrast,low fat milk was much less consumed with only around 7 gallons in 1970 .Over the following two decades its popularity increased rapidly and surpassed whole milk in 1990 reaching 14 gallons.From 1990 to 2010 the consumption of low fat milk remained stable, however it faced a slight decline over the next 5 years.
