The line graph demonstrates how the UK’s households used different types of technical devices between 1997 and 2001.
Overall, while CD players consistently had the highest percentages throughout the period, DVD players gradually had the smallest figures. Particularly, there was an increase in all kinds of technology, with a dramatic rise being seen in telephones.
The figure for CD players started at more than one-second in 1997, before rising slightly to reach a peak at precisely 80% in 2001. Moreover, only about 30% of households used DVD players, with a subsequent small fall by approximately 10% in the first one year and a final significant growth to 50% in the remaining years. Similarly, the share of households using the Internet climbed remarkably from 10% to 60% over the given timeframe.
A similar change, but to a greater extent, was witnessed in telephones, which ascended by just over 50% throughout the period. Likewise, the figure for computers accounted for 40%, after which grew by one-third.
