In 2006, the popular language among New Zealand school children was French(29%) with Japanese (28%)following very close behind. In 2014 French was still learned as the second language in highest percentage, however, the second most popular had switch to Spanish 23% While Japanese dropped significantly from its 2006 high of 28% to 17 % in 2014.
Looking at the two least commonly studying second languages were German and Chinese. Therefore Chinese had been less popular to learn at under 5% than dramatically rise and reached around 12% in 2014.German in 2006 a bit popular among students to learn as second language the results given with 12% while in 2014 hit a low of 6%.And other languages were at 7% in 2006 but become popular over the period reaching around 9% in 2014 after having peaked in previous year.
