The given chart provides data on the proportion of part-time workers in 4 different UK countries in 1980 and 2010.
As a general trend, part-time jobs had gained influence from 1980 to 2010, and the figures showed an upward trend during that period. At first glance, it is evident that Wales citizens tend to work in part-time jobs more than other countries, whereas Northern Ireland people were less attracted to this trend.
Over the period, in Wales, one of the aforementioned countries, the proportion of part-time workers had seen a slight increase from nearly one-third to more than a third. Similarly, part-time workers in England witnessed a mild upward tendency from a quarter in 1980 to just over 30% in 2010.
In contrast, during the 20-year period, Scotlanders became more engaged in part-time jobs, and the figure shows a sharp increase, almost doubled from a little more than 10% in 1980 to almost 20% in 2010. Nevertheless,
Northern Ireland’s figure surprisingly dropped negligibly from roughly 15% in 1980 to just under 15%.
