People aged 14-24 had the highest cinema attendee rates over the period. Starting at 92% in 1978, the percentage witnessed slight fluctuation until 1998, followed by a decline in 2008 (88%). Meanwhile, the 25-34 age group experienced a significant drop to 60% in 1988, but it recovered to 80%, the same figure as that of the year 1978. it remained stably before decreasing to end the period at roughly 76%.
Age groups 35-49 and over had lower figures of cinema visitors compared to the younger cohorts. The former started at 60% in 1978 and saw a fluctuating upward trend in 1998 (70%), then slightly dropped to around 68% in the last year of the period. Similar change can be seen in the figure for senior group, beginning at just above 40% in 1978 and experienced a remarkable fall to 30% in 1988, but it peaked at approximately 51% towards the end of the period.
