This line graph illustrates the rate of visitors going to the cinema at least once a month in four range of ages in a country from 1978 to 2008.
Overall, the proportions of cinema visitors in all age groups exhibited downward trend over the first ten years while the opposite was true for ten years later, compared to a steady downswing from 1998 onwards. Additionally, the figure for 50 and above was the lowest during the examined period.
In the first term of the period, more than 90% of teenagers visited the cinema at least once a month, which slightly decreased before reaching a peak of 90% again in 1998. Similarly, the figure for 24-35 was 80%, after a dramatic decline to under 70%, it rapidly grew to 80% again at the same time. Furthermore, both figures had experienced a slow decrease of 5% by the final term.
The beginning of the period witnessed 10% of decline from 60% in the age ranges 35-49 and 40% in the 50 and above respectively, however, the rate of both age groups significantly increased 20% in the term of 1988 and 1998. A 5% decline was seen in the proportion of 35-49-year-old cinema attendants, while the opposite was true for the counterpart.
