The chart illustrates the proportion of people going to cinemas in one European country during the seven days of the week from 2003 to 2007.
It is clear that there were relatively small fluctuations in people’s preferences of which day to go to the cinema over the examined period. People in this country tended to visit cinemas more on weekends rather than working days.
In 2003, Saturday accounted for the highest percentage of movie-goers, amounting 40 percent, whilst Sunday and Friday accounted for 30 percent each. Only 10 percent of people preferred to go to the cinemas on Monday, which is the lowest compared to other days. Between Tuesday and Thursday, the number decreased slightly from 20 to around 12.5 percent.
From 2005 to 2007, the overall proportion of cinema-goers dropped slightly, approximately from 45 to 42.5 percent on Saturdays and around 34 to 32.5 percent on Sundays respectively. While the number of people visiting the cinemas on Friday remained the same during all three years, the percentage fluctuated a bit from about 14 percent on Monday to 9 percent on Thursday, in 2005. Regarding the year of 2007, the number also witnessed small changes from around 12 to 14 percent between these days
