The pie charts compare two towns A and B in terms of people working in three main fields namely : manufacturing, sales and services from 1960 to 2010. Overall, manufacturing attracted the most employees in town B in both years. It is also clear that the rate of employees in town A was evenly distributed among all sectors in 1960 before focusing on services in 2010.
Looking at town A, manufacturing accounted for the highest share (41%) in 1960, followed by sales and services, at 30% and 29% respectively. However, the proportion of service workers doubled to 64%, overtaking manufacturing to become the biggest category in 2010. Notably, both sales and manufacturing nearly halved from 41% and 30% to 20% and 16% respectively.
Regarding town B, manufacturing employees made up 70% of the total workforce in 1960, which was more than double the figure for total sales and services. Despite slightly dropping in 2010 the figure for manufacturing still remained the largest employment sector. In contrast, both sales and services witnessed a negligible rise in the percentage of workers with the former growing from 20% to 22% and the latter climbing from 10% to 25% in 2010.
