The line graph illustrates the popularity of visiting museums at least once a year over the period of 30 years starting from 1980.
As can be seen from the chart, the number of visiting museums is by far the highest in the over 50s. In contrast, the lowest visitor numbers belonged to the younger age group. In the first 10 years, while the proportion of visitors among the 15-24 age group have a tendency to climb significantly, the number of people in 25-49 years old dropped dramatically. From the 1990s towards, the trend tended to converse.
To be specific, in 1980 the percentage of people visiting the over 50s was 48% or so which doubled the youngest age bracket’s number at 20%. Following that there had been a slight growth in the number to 50 % in 1990 before falled down gradually to 40% thoughout the last years. On the other hand, in 1990 witnessed a moderate rise in the number of visiting people about 25% and had remained constant before declining approximately 20% in 2010.
In terms of the middle-age bracket, during the period of 10 years beginning from 1980 both the popularity of visitors decreased step by step to 28% in 1990. In spite of the figures of the age 25-34 in 1995 went back to 1980 ones and reduced moderately to 34% in the last year, the number of visiting museums among 35-49 age recovered strongly and had unchanged during 10 years before diminishing slightly in 2010.
