The line graph compares four different sectors (Website, TV, Print, and Social Media) in terms of their usage for accessing news between 2012 and 2015 in the USA. The units are measured in percentages.
Overall, half of the sectors experienced an upward trend, while the other half saw a downward trend, albeit to varying degrees. The most significant increase was observed in the Social Media sector, while the steepest decline occurred in the Print sector. Notably, Websites were the dominant source throughout the entire period, followed by TV.
Websites, which remained dominant during the entire period, experienced an increase in usage percentage but saw a slight decline after 2014. Over the long run, their usage increased by 2%.
Social Media also experienced growth overall. Initially, it was the least used source, but due to a consistent upward trend, it rose to third place by 2015. Its usage increased by 21% over the period.
The other two sectors experienced a decline. TV started just 1% behind the leading sector in 2012, but over time, its usage dropped, widening the gap with Websites. The most significant decrease was seen in the Print sector, which declined by 15%. As a result, it lost its third-place position to Social Media and became the least used source by the end of the period.
