The bar graph illustrates the proportion of urban and rural families in a European country that had internet availability from 1999 to 2004.
Overall, it is shown that people living in urban areas had higher internet access compared to those staying in rural areas.
In 1999, families in cities had more than 10% access to the internet while families in countryside experienced only a slight increase in network availability. The percentage of internet availability in urban areas increased one-half compared to its previous year. However, the percentage in rural areas had a slight increase but still remained below 10%. From the year 2000 until 2002, there was a dramatic increase in network availability for people living in the city. For the next two years, there had only been a mere increase and ended with approximately 55% internet access for families in urban areas. As for the rural areas, there was a drastic increase from the year 2001 until 2004, and ended around 33% internet availability. As the urban areas remained higher, the rural areas showed an improvement in development.
