Overall it is clear that the population of Japan is expected to increase dramatically whereas the population of elderly people of Sweden and USA surged gradually over the years.
In 1940, the population of people aged 65 and over was at 5% for japan, at approximately 7% for sweden and almost 9% for USA. Then in the year 1960, the population increased gradually for both Sweden and USA to just under 7% for sweden and exactly 10% for the USA. On the flip side, the population of Japan decreased to about 3%.
In 2020, the population of Japan and Sweden rose gently. However, the population of USA plunged slightly to about 18% from 20%. In 2040, the population of senior citizens in all three countries is expected to go up. The USA and Sweden will have a gentle soar. In contrast, the population of japan is anticipated to skyrocket from 10% to nearly 27%.
