Overall, it is clear that road transport was the highest, while pipeline transport was the lowest. It is noticeable that rail transportation showed a decreasing trend. Moreover, there were significant differences between water and rail transport.
Looking at the details, pipeline started at around 6 million tonnes in 1974 and then increased to approximately 22 million tonnes in 2002. In addition, rail serives stood at 40 million tonnes in the beginning showed a gradual down and at last it stable. In contrast, shipping experienced a fluctuation around 63 million tonnes.
Furthermore, road transport reached a peak of a little less than 100 million tonnes, whereas railway carriage dropped to almost 30 million tonnes in 1986. Similarly, water tranportation was higher than rail freight throughout the period. Overall, water haulage had greatest figures compared to pipeline transport.
