Overall, the highest amount of spending has been done for holidays, and it has been growing at a high rate. The other 2 types of spending showed the stead fast growth over the years with fluctuations. Also, miscellaneous spending was changing as well although stayed constant.

On holidays 9 billion pounds were spent in 1993 and it started growing onwards. In 1998, the rate of increase went even higher reaching a peak of 26 billion pounds in 2008. Business in 1993 were on the other hand 2 billion pounds and closer to visiting family and friends which was 1 billion. Moreover, the business trips became more popular and slightly higher than closest to it category, although a lot of fluctuations happened throughout the years, and even becoming same in amount from 2008 to 2013. The Miscellaneous reasons have been the lowerst, costing 0.5 billion pounds is 1993, but fluctuated frequently and reaching a peak of only 2 billion pounds in 2003.

There were some declines too, the major one which was on holidays, where it decreased from 26 billion pounds to about 21 billion where it fluctuated until going up again in 2012.
