The line graph illustrates how often groups of different ages use Twitter in the USA from November 2010 to May 2013.
Overall, people aged 18-19 years recorded the highest proportion and outperformed significantly the other categories. While the other figures of other ages fluctuated and mostly remained with the same percentages throughout the period. Additionally, the group aged 65+ remained relatevily stable with the lowest percentage over the period.
At the beginning of the period, the use of twitter among people aged 18-19 stood at nearly 15% and began to increase until 2012. Afterwards, this figure remained relatively stable until 2016 when it experienced a sharp increase at approximately 32%. After peaking on December of 2012, the percentage fell to just under 27% but eventually saw a rise and finally recorded 30%.
Furthermore, in the first half of the period, groups aged 30-49 and 50-64 fluctuated at around 11% and 8% respectively. From February of 2012 onwards, these figures rose steadily and accounted for 17% and 13% respectively by the end of the period. By contrast, the group aged 65+ fluctuated at around 4% throughout the period and finally maked up a similar percentage as it began, at approximately 5%.
