The graph illustrates the main reasons behind air pollution in the UK from three various sources in a 15 year period. Overall, throughout all these years all the graphs experienced a dramatic fall, except graphs related to pollution caused by means of transport.
In 1990, over 8 million tons of pollutants were released into the environment with industrial use being the biggest polluter. The numbers regarding pollution caused by transport and household were the exact same with over 1 million tonnes of pollutants produced.
Over the next 15 years the total amount of air pollutants decreased by nearly 2 million tonnes. In addition, pollution caused by both Industries and households witnessed a dramatic fall by over 4 and 1 million tonnes. However, the exact opposite happened to the graph regarding pollutants produced by transportation with a rise of 2 million tonnes compared to the initial data.
