A general overview reveals that drinking patterns vary based on their age. Particularly, 16-24 ages group have never been on alcohols, accounting for the largest percentage; meanwhile, those who are hard drinkers, are 45-54 ages individuals.
Focusing on the young generation (16-24), 60% of them are never exposed to alcohol; meanwhile, approximately 10% of younger people used to drink but now are abstainers. Additionally, about one-quarter of the young are lighter drinkers while remaining 5% drinks heavily. 25-34 ages group is also observed with a minimal alteration. Particularly, the percentage of never drinkers accounts for 55%, which surpasses the 33% alcohol consumption by the lighter drinkers. The figure for ex-drinkers and hard drinkers are recorded with modest 5% and 8%, respectively.
The information about 35-to-74 years old individuals are also observed with a stark difference. Whereas, the rate of people who never have had alcohols declines from 60% to 45% with the increase of age, a reverse trend is exhibited for the ex-drinkers whose proportion hikes as people get older, from 5% to 40%. Finally, 45-54 ages bracket represents an impressive 13% of heavy drinkers, outpacing this figure of other groups.
