Overall, the consumption of hamburgers, fish and chips witnessed an upward trend, while there was a downward trend for the figure for pizza during the period shown. In addition, although the amount of pizza consumed took last place in 1990, it was the highest figure at the beginning of the period.
In 1970, the most popular fast food was pizza which over 300g were consumed each week. However, this was slightly decreased to 200g in 1985. Afterwards, in 1990 a significant rise of 20g was illustrated in the consumption of pizza in the UK.
In contrast, sales of hamburger, fish and chips showed great fluctuations. In 1970, very little hamburgers were consumed, less than 30 grams per week. At the same time, approximately 80 grams of fish and chips were eaten by UK residents. Furthermore, both the items showed an increment of nearly 70 grams and 150 grams per week in 1980 respectively. In 1990, the consumption of hamburgers, fish and chips rocketed. The former’s figure experienced a gradual rise to about 300 grams per week, while the latter’s weekly consumption soared dramatically to 500 grams per week and became the highest figure in the line graph at the end of the period.
