First, the data for CDs shows that it has decreased significantly from more than 50% in 2011 towards 20ish% in 2018. This reflects real life habits, as from 2011 onwards, digitalization and the rise of social media influenced changes in music listening, as people shifted from CDs to downloads from YouTube, and streaming apps like Spotify
Second, the data for Downloads has shown an inconsistent trend, it has increased from 30ish% in 2011, to peaking in 40ish% in 2014, then decreasing drastically to 30% in 2018. This shows that while Downloads is more popular than CDs, it’s still less popular than Streams.
Third, the data for Streams has been steadily increasing from less than 10% in 2011 to over 40% in 2018. This shows that out of the three music buying habits, Streams is the most popular and most loved by music fans.
