The above graph depicts the demographical data corresponding to the quantity of immigrants to the United States between the years 1990 and 2008.
Overall, the immigrants are classified into three divisions. They are work permit outsiders, asylum workers and spouses. Initially, between 1990 and 1993, the number of foreign immigrants ranged between 20,000 to 60,000. Gradually, the timespan between 1993 to 1995 saw a dip in the asylum workers entering into the country. Meanwhile, the work permit and spouse category of people trying to enter the shores remained approximately the same. Year 1995 saw a rise in the count of asylum immigrants upto 60,000. Two years down the lane, the work permit population was 65,000 and the count for spouses was at an all time low of 19,000 roughly. The start of 21st Century saw a great rise in the foreigners coming to the United States. Asylum category added upto 140,000 people, this was the highest number in the past 10 years. Work permit division had almost 100,000 people. Simultaneously, the number of spouses increased to just 25,000.
It was in the year 2002 when the numbers started to grow at a rapid pace. Number of permit workers were 120,000 and asylum workers hit the maximum count of 160,000. After this, there was a massive downfall in the number of asylum workers and reached an all time low of 20,000 in 2008. At the same time, work permit immigrants were constant ranging from 120,000 to 140,000 from 2004 to 2008. The spouse section hit the highest number in 2007
