Overall, there were upward and downward trends for these figures over the period, Another noticeable point is that 16-30 years old was the age which had the highest proportion of Internet usage in Taiwan.
As can be seen from the chart, the age group of 16-30 years accounted for the highest figure in 1998, followed by a gradual decrease of approximately 8% in the next two years. Likewise, the figure for people between 31 and 50 years old started at 41% in 1998. In the phase of 1999 to 2000, this figure experienced a slight decline to 39% and 37% respectively.
By contrast, the age group of children under 15 rocketed by 6% in 1999, from 2% to 8%, and then there was a minimal growth of 1% over the next year. Equally, there was a dramatic climb of 4% in the figure of people over 50 years old from 1998 to 1999. This just increased by a mere 1 % at the end.
