The line chart illustrates the employment proportion by four education levels in the UK in recent years, as well as how it was forecasted in the following years.
Overall, it is evident that the Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree have a tendency to increase between 1990 and 2025, while High school and No school certificate are likely to witness a decrease over the period. Additionally, Master’s degree is expected to have the most noticeable changes.
According to the line graph, individuals with a Bachelor’s degree experience a substantial growth of around 13% in 2000. However, this number then experiences a slight decrease to 8% before recovering and reaching its peak at 14% in 2025. In addition, Bachelor’s degree is projected to go up in 2025 after falling to roughly 9% in 2015. Meanwhile, Master’s degree, although accounting for 5% in 2000 and 10% in 2005, is still lower than the Bachelor’s degree holders. Nevertheless, it experiences a sharp rise from 2010 to 2025 and becomes the category with the highest percentage change in employment.
Despite starting at a relatively similar level as the first two degrees, the employment proportion of people finishing high school declines considerably to approximately -4% over the next 35 years. The percentage of employment with no school certificate follows a similar pattern to the former, going down substantially to nearly -14% between 1990 and 2025.
