The graph illustrates the number of hours per week that students spent studying in the library, with a tutor or lecturer, and using the internet during a two-year course.
Overall, internet usage increased significantly over the period, while time spent in classes and lectures decreased. In contrast, the number of hours spent in the library fluctuated.
The most noticeable trend was the sharp rise in internet use. It increased steadily throughout the course, particularly between the first and second semesters of each year, climbing from around 3 hours per week at the beginning to more than 10 hours by the end.
Time spent in classes and lectures was initially the highest, at approximately 7 hours per week. This figure rose to 8 hours in the second semester of the first year. However, it then declined during the second year and ended at just 5 hours per week.
Library study time showed the greatest variation. It first fell from 4 hours to about 3 hours per week, before rising rapidly to a peak of 8 hours. Afterwards, it decreased again and finished at around 6 hours per week.
