The chart compares the proportions of men and women among academic staff who taught various faculties at a leading university in 2012.
Overall, it can be seen that there were more male staff members in all faculties than female staff members. Engineering was the most popular subject among males. However, a similar percentage of both genders was involved in medicine.
Only 55% of female staff members were in arts, while males contributed just 45% to the same. The percentage of males was almost doubled in Business compared with that of females. Moreover, females’ interest in education was three times greater than that of their male counterparts. In terms of the engineering field, the percentage of male tutors reached over 80%, but the figure for women was under 20%.
Furthermore, in both law and science faculties, women’s participation remained just under 40%, whereas only a 5% difference was apparent in men’s statistics. In terms of medicine, the proportion of both sexes remained identical at 50%.
