The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of 16-to-25-aged men in a particular country who enjoy watching sports to men who prefer participating in sports.
Overall, the share of spectators were dominated in numerous categories of sports, excepting for fishing. Both football and house riding and racing showed the equivalent figures for the highest proportion of males who enjoy watching. Additionally, the biggest gaps were seen in football, fishing and house riding and racing whereas more moderate differences were represented in three remaining sports.
Rugby, basketball and badminton all shared similar patterns. Badminton showed the narrowest gap between the percentage of watching or participating among males, which accounted for 29% and 25% respectively. Rugby and basketball followed the same pattern but more pronounced. Rugby took up 30% of viewing figures and 20% of participation rate whereas 38% watched and 25% engaged in basketball.
Football and house riding and racing both shared the same pattern with a bigger difference between males who want to become viewers or participants. Notably, the proportion of spectators in football and house riding and racing were relatively equivalent, accounting for 45%. Nevertheless, the participation rate in house riding and racing made up 18%, which was 8 percentage points higher than that of football. Conversely, the trend reversed for fishing figures. Fishing showed the highest participation rate at 50% although only 15% of males preferred watching.
