The graph illustrates the number of UK adolescents following a vegeterian diet between the years 1980 and 2020. Over the forty-year span, there were three periouds of growth in the young vegeterian population.
In 1980, there were fewer than 200000 vegetarian adolescents in the UK. Over the next five years, the number grew gradually to approximately 250000, but by 1995 had declined again to 200000. At that point there was a significant rise in the number of vegetarian adolescents. By 2000 the number had reached it peak, increasing to roughty 400000, but then fell back to approximately 200000 again by 2010. The biggest rise occured by 2015, when the number of young vegeterians increased sharply. By 2020, there were around 900000, nearly five times as many as in 1980.
Over the 40 year span, the number of young vegeterians rose and fell every 10 and 15 years. However the most remarkable increase occured in the years 2015 and 2020, when the number more than trembled.
