The line graph shows the tendency of three types of crimes occurring in Newport from 2003 to 2012.
To begin with, burglary has the highest rates. The highest peak happened in 2004 reaching over 3700 cases. Then a gradual decrease in incidents is observed until 2008 where it reaches its lowest number of almost 1500. From that year on there is a slight augmentation and then it levels off.
Meanwhile, the number of car theft incidents is at its highest rate from 2003 to 2005. Then a modest decline occurred in 2006 reaching its lowest number of cases of 2000. A moderate increase is observed from 2006 until 2012.
Lastly, robbery has the fewest number of incidents. From 2003 to 2012 it fluctuated slightly between 500 and 1000 cases.
Overall, burglary had the highest number of incidents. Over the years, the cases of car theft grew over burglary while the robberies in the city did not have the same impact.
