Overall, all four groups experienced multiple fluctuations over time. The 15-24 age group visited the cinema the most often while the 35 and over age group visited rarely visited the cinema.
Looking at the younger groups in 1984, around one-fifth of those from 15 to 24 visited the cinema, far higher than the youngest group, 7 to 14, at about 10%. The former was seen with its figures rising to around 30% in 1993, before fluctuating in the next 9 years and increasing again to approximately 55% in 2005. A similar increasing tendency was seen in the 7-14 age bracket, as the numbers managed to soar to nearly 40% despite facing dips in 1986, 1993, and 1999.
Looking at the older groups in 1984, around 5% of people aged 25 to 35 went to the cinema. This figure rose steadily year by year, peaking in 2002 at just over 30% despite a fall in 2000. The 35 and over bracket witnessed a similar trend where its number witnessed continuous growth from just over 1% in 1984 to approximately 12% in 2003.
