The given line chart illustrated the percentage of tourists visiting four distinguished destinations in Scotland including: Aquarium, Castle, Zoo and Festival from 1980 to 2010
It is evident that while the proportion of tourists who chose to visit the Aquarium and Castle increased, the opposite trend was true for the figure of the Zoo and the Festival over the 30-year period. It is also notable that the Castle was the most popular attraction for the most of the period.
In 1980, the percentage of visitors coming to the Castle stood at nearly 20%. Over the following 20 years, the number of Castle visitors increased dramatically to 45%, which is the highest figure in the chart. After that, this figure witnessed a considerable drop to just 35% in 1995, before going up slightly by approximately 5% in 2010. Meanwhile, the figure for the Zoo visitors increased to 20% over a lapse of 30 years from 1980 to 2010, despite several minor fluctuations from 1980 to 2000.
On the other hand the proportion of tourists to the Aquarium stood at 20% in the first examined year. Over the next 5 years, this figure reached its peak of 35% in 1985. However, since then, it plummeted to approximately 10% during the period of time between 1985 to 2010. The figure for travelers who paid a visit to the Festival also decreased throughout the period. In 1980, 30% of tourists to Scotland chose the Festival as their go-to destination, but then recorded a gradual decrease to below 25% at the end of the period.
