By 2020, the rise had slowed and finished at 22%, just lower than that of females.
Female rates of obesity showed a slightly different trend. They started in 2016 just above males at 11%. The growth from this point to 2019 was quite steady, reaching 18% having just been overtaken by men. After this year, however, the obesity rates climbed quite significantly and finished in 2020 at 25%.
