The chart illustrates how the sales changed throughout four periods of years at a department store in the US in 2011.
Overall, the period started from winter and finished in autumn. At the end of the year the demand for all types of sales increased. A remarkable upward trend was seen in women’s clothes over four periods.
In winter, sales of women’s clothes were the highest, accounting for 40,000, while demand in jewellery was two times less. The numbers of sales of men’s clothes and cosmetics were approximately the same, 30,000 and purchases of sport equipment reached roughly 33,000. In spring, sales in women’s clothes and sports equipment significantly increased when other types decreased to the level of 20,000.
In summer, demand for all types of goods rose. 80,000 purchases were made in the women’s clothes section, while only 22,000 pieces of sports equipment were sold, which was the smallest number compared to others. However, in Autumn, all five kinds of goods reached their peak in demand: the number of sold women’s clothes reached over 100,000, the amount of demand in other types of goods varied between 35,000 and 60,000.
