First of all, it is noticeable that Japan had increased significantly the production of rice compared to the others country which, instead, had decreased their relative production by more than 50%.
In particularly it can be observed that during this period Vietnam passed to be, with china, the leader of the sector with almost 40% of the whole production to be a small part of the entire rice economy with less than 15% of the entire production.

To sum up the graphs above show clearly that in 2005 the Asian rice production changed significantly compared to 1985 and, in particular Japan, during this period, became the most important rice productor of Asia.
