The bar chart shows the difference in the water levels in reservoirs of six cities,namely,Darwin,Sydney,Melbourne,Brisbane,Perth and Canberra in Austalia in October 2009 and October 2010.
Overall, water levels in most cities either increased or remained relatively stable from October 2009 to October 2010. Canberra experienced the most significant rise, while Darwin was the only city where water levels noticeably declined. Sydney consistently had the highest water levels in both years, whereas Melbourne had the lowest in 2009 but saw a considerable improvement by 2010.
In October 2009, the water levels in Sydney were the highest among all six cities, reaching approximately 80% of maximum capacity. Canberra followed with around 65%, while Perth also had a relatively high level, just above 60%. Brisbane recorded a moderate water level of about 55%, whereas Darwin and Melbourne had the lowest levels, at around 45% and 25% respectively.
By October 2010, water levels had increased in most cities compared to the previous year. Canberra experienced the most significant rise, climbing to nearly 100% capacity. Melbourne also saw a substantial improvement, with levels increasing from around 25% to approximately 50%. Brisbane and Perth showed moderate growth, reaching about 65% and 70% respectively. In contrast, Darwin was the only city where the water level dropped significantly, falling to just under 40%. Sydney remained stable, maintaining its high level at roughly 80%.
