The exhibited pie charts compare the expenditures in six categories on a weekly basis in the UK and the US.
Overall, spending on rent took up the largest parts in the UK, while food took the highest proportion in the US. Additionally, the expenses on other sections are equal, except for books.
Regarding rent and food, both of them were the dominant categories in two nations. In the UK, rent constituted 30% of the total expenditures, ranked top, followed by food at 18%. On the other hand, American consumers had the highest expenses for food, accounting for a quarter of total spending, nearly 5% more than the figure for rent.
Turning to the remaining sections, there were similarities between the allocations for transport, going out and DVDs in two countries. In each nation, their spending on transportation and hanging out were about 30%, while DVDs comprised about one-tenth of the total expenditures. Meanwhile, books took up the remaining 15% of the total expenses in the US, almost 3% higher than in the UK.
