The two pie charts compare the percentage of British people visiting Spain in two separate years: 1983 and 2003.
Overall, the proportions of people aged 0-24 and 55+ visiting Spain were relatively lower in 1983 compared to in 2003, whereas the reverse was true for the 25-34 and 34-54 age groups. Although the figure for people aged 34-54 decreased, it maintained its highest position in 2003. Notably, the share of the 16-24 age category surpassed people aged 0-15 in 2003, despite starting at the lowest level.
In 1983, the share of senior visitors (55+) stood at 16%, which was 6 percentage points higher than that of adolescents (10%). The gap between them then widened in 2003, with figures standing at 26% and 12%. Meanwhile, the figure for people aged 16-24 stood at 15% in 2003, having risen from a mere 4% in 1983.
In contrast, the proportion of the 34-54 age demographic was as high as 50%, nearly double that of the 25-34 age profile (20%). Both, however, experienced notable decreases in 2003, with figures standing at 35% and 12%, respectively.
