Band 5+: The graphs below show the enrolments of overseas students and local students in Australian universities over a ten year period. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. You should write at least 150 words.

The line graphs display the number of foreign and local students enrolled in universities of Australia, namely commercing and total, over a 10-year period from 2001 to 2010.

Generally, on the first graph both of the tendencies rose steadily. On the second graph the total number of students increased gradually and the trend of commercing ones remained stable.

The total number of overseas students rose sharply from nearly 2000 to higher than 8000, while the trend of commercing people increased slightly from lower than 2000 to about 4000 by 2009 and then remained stable until the last year. However, the quantity of local commersing students rose from less than 200000 to more than 20000 during the first two years and then declined slightly to almost the initial number by 2006, after that the tendency rose by 2008 and decreased again to approximately 200000 towards the end of the period. The total number of local students, in contrast, went upwards gradually from nearly 400000 to higher than 600000 by 2007 and then remained absolutely constant until 2010.
