We can observe from the bar chart that both spending on health and education in UAE increased from over the eight-year period, and UAE expended more money on Education sector. It is also noticeable that life expectancy in UAE rose, whereas infant mortality in this country dropped significantly from 1970 to 1992.
In 1985, UAE spent on health and education sector nearly 8.00% and 10.00% respectively. In 1990, there was a decrease in health spending, at 7.00% and the figure for education spending was double that figure. In 1993, expenditure on health grew noticeably, peaking at 10.00%. The similar trend was seen in spending on education, reaching the highest point of approximately 15.00%.
There was a positive improvement in age of UAE residents. In 1970, UAE residents’ life expectancy was around 60 years. This figure increased to 70 years in 1992. By contrast, the mortality of infant in UAE fell enormously from 70 per 1000 births to only 20 per 1000 births over the period shown.
