The two line graphs compare the proportions of films released and the ticket sales distributed to four categories in 1996 and 2006.
Overall, drama movies had the largest amount of releasing but the ticket sales of comedy films accounted for bigger percentage than that of the drama genre. The romance films stood at the last position, after the fantasy category in both charts. The general trend of releasing films and the trend of ticket was an increase, except for the figure for romance film tickets in both graphs.
A steady rise of could be seen in the number of films in the cinema and tickets sold in three categories Drama, Comedy and Fantasy. The percentage of drama movies had the most significant development and remained at the highest place in 2 periods, from 25% to 35%. The second place of releasing belonged to comedy genre, from 20% to 25%, followed by the statistic of the fantasy films, from nearly 15% to above 20%. The pattern of romance films was stable at around 7% in both years.
However, there was a different in the line chart of ticket sales. Though outweighting in the number of films, the ticket sales of drama films was lower than that of comedy films, at about 15% compared to 20% according to the statistic in 1996. The ticket sales of comedy also shown a noticable growth to about 23% while that of drama only witnessed a slight change of around 1%. But the fantasy tickets was the one had the biggest going up, from under 5% to nearly 7%. In contrast, the ticket sales percentage for romance genre experienced a downward trend, between 5% to about 3% in the given periods.
