On the one hand, there was a contradiction between the percentage of films released and the Cinema ticket sales of 2 genres: Drama and Comedy. Although Drama releases accounted for approximately 25% and 35% in 1996 and 2000, respectively, the number of ticket sales of this genre throughout the 4 years period was just a mere higher than 15%. Meanwhile, the Comedy releases and ticket sales were almost unchanged from 1996 to 2000.
On the other hand, both Fantasy and Romance did not catch the watchers attention when the Fantasy releases in1996 and 2000 were at about 10% and 15%, respectively.Besides, Romance releases remain stable at above 5%. In terms of ticket sales, there was an upward trend in Fantasy ticket sales which took up 10% higher than in 1996, at nearly 7%. In contrast, Romance ticket sales witnessed a decrease from 5% to under 3% in 1996 and 2000, respectively.
