The provided line graphs compare the number of cinem-goersand their spending on film entertainment in Australia. The given period spans 35 years from 1980 to 2015. Cinema attendees’ numbers are represented in percentages, while the expenditure on tickets are measured in Australian dollars.
Overall, it can be clearly seen from both lines, that the past 35 years witnessed an upward trend, indicating an increasing interest in cinemas among Australians. It is worth noting that the amount of money spent on tickets rose dramatically in final 15 years, despite the noticeable fluctuation in percentages of cinema visitors.
In the beginning of the period nearly 35% of Australians were visiting cinemas and expenditure on tickets were about 200 AUD. Till 1990 both increased steadily up to slightly above 40% and 400 dollars respectively, which consequenced in stability in spendings on tickets approximately in the next 2 decades.
However, in these 20 years the percentages of cinema attendance went up to around 65-70%. But in spite of this increase, after 2000 there was a drop down to just below 50% of visitors. Meanwhile the amount of money spent on film entertainment remained stable at that time, which afterwards tripled up to 1200 AUD.
